On October 15th, in order to promptly address the issue of densely planted milkwood trees in some streets and residential areas, causing an excessively strong fragrance during the flowering season and affecting the lives of residents; and at the same time ensure urban landscape, maintain and promote the distinctive value of milkwood trees to Hanoi , the Department of Construction requested the People's Committees of wards and communes, the Management Board of Hanoi's high-tech and industrial zones, the City's Technical Infrastructure Management Center, and relevant units to urgently implement immediate and long-term measures to adjust the density of milkwood trees.
Specifically, regarding immediate measures, the Hanoi Department of Construction requests that relevant units and local authorities urgently organize inspections and reviews of streets and residential areas with densely planted milkwood trees, especially in densely populated areas, near houses, schools, hospitals, and locations where residents have complained about the scent of milkwood affecting their daily lives and living environment; prioritize addressing areas with high concentrations of milkwood trees, unreasonable planting distances, trees located close to residential houses, and areas where residents have complained or requested action; proactively inform and explain to residents so they understand and agree with the proposed solutions; and promptly receive and resolve requests within their jurisdiction.
Based on the results of the inspection and assessment of the impact, direct the units responsible for managing and maintaining the trees to immediately implement appropriate technical measures to minimize the scent of the milkwood flowers during the flowering season. This includes studying the rational pruning of flower clusters in truly necessary locations and other appropriate care and maintenance measures.
