Anne Hathaway is having a little fun with her ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ co-star Meryl Streep.
During a Wednesday, April 15, appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Hathaway, 43, jokingly accused her former costar of a very specific offense after Colbert mentioned Streep had recently been on the show promoting the upcoming sequel.
“Yeah, she stole my sweater!” Hathaway interjected, catching the host off guard.
“Yes, she stole your sweater,” Colbert replied, playing along.
“That’s where it went!” the actress added, sending the audience into laughter.
The moment was a clear nod to one of the original film’s most iconic fashion pieces: Andy Sachs’ cerulean sweater. Streep, who famously played Miranda Priestly and will reprise her role in the sequel, wore a nearly identical blue knit during her own recent appearance — sparking comparisons to the unforgettable line in the original movie.
Off-screen, Hathaway recently opened up about how life has shifted since becoming a mom to her two sons.
“Before, there was this focus that was really uncompromising and uninterrupted … And I just can’t tell you anymore what life is like without kids, but kids interrupt you all the time,” she shared with Harper’s Bazaar in March.
She added, “My friends and I talk about it a lot, and we actually feel very defeated by the concept of balance.”
Hathaway seems to be taking it all in stride and with a sense of humor. ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ is slated to hit theaters on May 1.
